Creative Director Yorgo Tloupas of Intersection Magazine recently gave us a look at a sneaker meets bike design. Incorporating the utilitarian bicycle, the wheels have been replaced with special wheels outfitted with 8 pairs of separate sneakers. Watch the bike Fred Flinstone-esque bike in action, sort of.

According to Car, Audi has decided that a canvas roof or a folding hard top isn’t feasible due to the mid-mounted mill. Instead, a removable targa roof that can be detached and stowed will be fitted to the R8 to allow open air motoring with a bit of pre-planning. [via Car Magazine]

Xcor Aerospace announced they would carry a pilot and a single passenger to an altitude of 200,000 feet that would for about $100,000 a ride. Flight testing is expected to start in 2010. This two seater rocket ship will reach 200,000 feet, the passengers will experience about 90 seconds of weightlessness. It is not the first do this, the SpaceShipTwo by the Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic, which has six seats, it will start test-flying this year. If you ready for it, first ready the money! The Air Jordan XX3 (23) has definitely been off to a good start this year with the great amount attention it has been receiving and the Jordan Brand have transitioned on to the fourth color-way of the Air Jordan XX3. The fourth color-way will consist of White, Stealth Black and Metallic Gold.
No official nickname has been given to this particular model but it can simply be shortened to the “Stealth” XX3. All of the releases of the XX3 have feature subtle color combinations and the same can be said about this model which features new designs including Michael Jordan’s signature in Metallic Gold at the front of the shoe. The Stealth Air Jordan XX3 will be released on April 5th, 2008 with a retail price of $185 as a general release. [via SneakerFiles]

Since its recent inception into the Air Force 1, Supreme models have created a more contemporary styling for the 25+ year old sneaker. The use of a visible air bubble has often been the distinguishing factor on Nike’s more expensive and higher performing models from its more economical models. But over the years, the popularity of the AF1 has shown that the AF1s original design was popular enough to sustain such strong interest. This upcoming release from AF1 features a colorway similar to the Nike Orca Pack of Dunks released a few years back with a similar albeit flipped use of black and white. No word yet on an official release from Nike.

Njection has compiled a database of more than 50,000 speed traps worldwide — areas with high radar use and speed cameras — that works with Microsoft Live Maps. Njection is teaming up with Garmin, a leading manufacturer of GPS, to allow drivers to download and display their speed trap database information on portable navigation units. The Speed Trap-enhanced Garmin portable GPS units will be a great companion on a road trip, long commute, or while traveling in unfamilar areas.

Most likely a hype building move by Converse, quality pictures have surfaced of a Lupe Fiasco designed All Star which is allegedly not slated for release. The shiny patent upper was conceived with the (Product) Red humanitarian theme in mind which correlates with the subtle use of red highlights. As mentioned, no release date is expected for these joints.
Lupe was performing at the Dr. Romanelli’s 1Hund[RED] Artists shoe launch in LA about a month ago, there was also mention of his own Converse shoe under the Product [RED] line. Converse reports on them today, they are a full black patent leather All Star High with red accents and a white sole. No mention on availability yet.

Sneaker customizer Mark Ong, better known as SBTG, joined forces toy designer PHU, to create 16 one-of-the-kind sneakers. Titled “Death from Above”, the collection depicts a fictitious aerial battle between 2 sworn enemies – The Death Seeker AF1s and the Phantom Mirage AM90s.
First off is the Death Seeker Air Force 1, call signs “Thunderbolt/Spitfire”. Features a weathered fuselage as an armor and cloaked in an urban desert storm camouflage. It is a “suicidal maniac” masked with the warhawks teeth ready for a Kamikaze mission. Retails for US$ 500 and comes with individually numbered on sneakers and box. Christian Hosoi has been an important figure in skateboarding history for the past several decades. Christian started skating at the young age of six years old and got plenty of time to perfect his skills at a young age as his father was the manager of a skatepark and by the age of 14, Christian Hosoi turned pro.
During the 1980s Christian Hosoi emerged as one of the top vert riders and developed a bit of a rivalry with Tony Hawk over supremacy in the skate world. The 1990s were not as good for Hosoi as skateboarding transformed to favoring the streets over the vert. A series of failed business ventures coupled with a warrant out for his arrest kept Hosoi from attending the first ever X Games in what was thought to be a hyped up battle between him and Tony Hawk.
After a few years in the pen in the new century, Hosoi received support from the outside with special collaborations such as a Rising Sun deck released by Shorty’s modeled after his first board he designed when he turned pro with Sims Skateboards. Hosoi, a Japanese-American, chose this as a symbol of pride of his heritage.
In 2006, Christian Hosoi founded Hosoi Skateboards and was treated to a collaboration with Vans on the Sk8-Hi that some of you may remember from a couple years ago. Hosoi and Vans have come together yet again to produce three pairs of Vans with the rising sun pattern.
Californian watch brand Nixon has dropped another strong collection for their 2008 summer collection. The releases include some familiar classics like the Rotolog alongside some contemporary stylings. A more extensive view can be seen over at Fieil.

Whenever a celebrity tries to sell something expensive on eBay there’s always speculation as to motives, but here’s a case where it’s pretty obvious what the deal is: music producer Scott Storch is short on cash. He’s selling his yacht, called “Tiffany,” on eBay for well under its $20 million value (per Rolling Stone magazine) because apparently he can’t afford to keep it anymore. As of right now it’s going for just under $1,000,000. What a deal.
I’m no eBaying expert but I’m not sure it’s such a great sales technique to display in big bold letters “THE BOAT IS BEING SOLD UNDER DISTRESS ,OWNER BOUGHT HER AND NOW GOT SHORT ON MONEY.” Seems more than a little on the tacky side, and hardly inspires the celebrity “cool” factor that might help it sell for more.
UPDATE: Bidding has ended at $1,000,101, that’s a fair amount of cash but not enough to meet the reserve, looks like Storch is going to have to try again. A new bidding war has begun and is at 2.5 million.
The world’s most expensive MP3 player, Diamond iPod, was recently auctioned off at the Feast of Albion charity event in London. Handcrafted by Norweigan jeweller Thomas Heyerdahl the piece is one-of-a-kind. The ipod shuffle and accompanying earphones are bedecked in 18K white and pink gold with 430 diamonds which is estimated to be worth £20,000. With only one made and no sign of them being produced commercially the glamorous iPod is quite the exclusive item…just surprised they didn’t use the larger iPod versions. Imagine paying that much money for an MP3 player that can’t even hold more than a few of your favorite CD’s of music!
This Thomas Wylde Colossus Scorpion Bag is for those who want something that is not only crisp and bright for spring but also has a bit of an edge to it. In spite of its perceived cultural contradictions, the Middle Eastern of DUBAI is embracing futurism in a way currently unseen anywhere else on the planet. Following the seemingly impossible task of creating the world’s largest man-made island chain, the Palm Islands, Dubai has announced their plans to create an astonishing “WATERFRONT CITY” designed by visionary Dutch architect REM KOOLHAAS on another manmade island adjacent to the Palms. Covering a six and a half square mile area, the focal point of this sprawling new mixed-use seaside metropolis will be a perfectly spherical building bearing more than a striking resemblance to the legendary Death Star. Whether the incredible structure will be used as a weapon to destroy America with a powerful beam of energy remains to be seen, but until then we can only watch in wonder as the tiny Arab country becomes a showcase for what might eventually constitute the “Seven Wonders” of the modern world before our eyes. Yosuke Yamashita, a famous pianist came to the conclusion that playing a piano while its not on fire is no longer an entertaining way of passing the time. So on the 8th of March he put on a spiffy fireproof suit and played a burning piano on the beach. There he played a dazzling improvised jazz performance for ten minutes before the piano was no longer able to play. The Gods of old in Valhalla were all in tears after such an awe inspiring performance.
However, this performance was not his first. In fact he preformed a similar one in 1973, lucky for him it was made into a film, which can be seen here. Unfortunately, this isn’t the entire performance, just a sliver of it. However, his message is clear, play the best piano solo while you can, because sooner or later it will be unplayable.

Saleen has unveiled a new supercar concept at today’s New York Auto Show that boasts a 650-horsepower V8 engine running on ethanol. The sprint to 60mph takes just 3.2 seconds and top speed is an estimated 200mph. Other features include a lightweight aluminum chassis and composite body and a six-speed manual transmission sending drive to the rear wheels. Already being touted as the successor to the current S7 flagship, the new car is still in the design phase and will only go into production if it receives enough interest from show goers.
“Hibachi”, the one word catchphrase was impulsively yelled by Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas and would eventually go on to be an often used catch phrase representing his favorite restaurant chain, Benihana. Despite Gilbert Arenas’ notable on-court absence, adidas has continued with many themed releases seen on his Gil II Zero model. These will be available March 23rd. When originally offered in the 80’s to luxury consumers with too much money, the Ferrari Testarossa sold at such premium stores as FAO Schwartz and Neiman Marcus for more than $50,000. Over twenty years later, the St. Louis Car Museum & Sales is offering one for less than half that.
The hand-built Testarossa kart is powered by a 5hp Briggs & Stratton engine coupled to an automatic transmission with two speeds plus reverse. It features an electronic ignition, a Momo steering wheel with working horn, CD stereo, fully functional lights and signals (including retractable headlights), an independent suspension, hydraulic rear disc brakes and adjustable seats, all backed up by a 12-volt electrical system. The fiberglass-bodied kart measures 111″ long and at 615 lbs will top out at 30 mph.

Urban designer Ted Nemeth has taken the outdoors in with his throne chair which looks as it it has been created from a city dumpster. The chair is made of 1/8 inch cold rolled steel complete with big four-inch bolts. There are a pair of brass knuckles on the chair arms. The chair has leather armrests and seats and the chair is splashed with colorful customizable graffiti by New York-based street artist BLKINK. The chair is listed at $5,150.

Back in August 2007, the son of famed WWE Wrestler Hulk Hogan crashed his modded yellow Toyota Supra in Clearwater, Florida while allegedly street racing. Nick “Hogan” Bollea suffered minor injuries, but his friend riding shotgun at the time, John Graziano, suffered serious injuries including head trauma. Graziano now resides (and likely will for life) at a veteran’s hospital in Haley, VA. Since then, Bollea has been charged with felony reckless driving involving serious bodily harm, as well as a host of other offenses including being underage while driving drunk. Several matches in the dark with pounding background music for the sake of the players’ confusion —who kept it cool and played quite impressively—, and a fashion show from Rubén Gómez Navarro that was… let’s say… “bright”. Standing out was a gigantic screen on one side of the court that showed the score and the players’ names, in a neatly designed animated way. Sony Ericsson style if you will. The process of getting custom sneakers is a little more involved than a quick trip to the shoe store but the results are unique. When he designs shoes he provides customers with a computer generated mock-up for approval. Each custom design is hand done and after it is finished, they coat the shoe with a protective layer which resists water and physical damage.
